The Big Four Foundation is on the cusp of launching our next big venture in an attempt to continue helping people in emergent need within Shelby County.

The Big Four 50-Club is soon set to launch. So what is the Big Four 50-Club? This is your opportunity to become an official member of the #giveback community and also get involved in ways to make money too!

The cost is $50 year. What do you get for your $50?
– Monthly $50 raffle, to be live on Facebook at each month’s Big Four Foundation Board Meeting!

- Early bird options for registration to the Hacker Classic, as well as a drawing in July that would offer up a free foursome into the Hacker Classic.

- When you sign up, you will be invited to the Big Four 50 Club private Facebook page where the raffles will be live each month and special messages will be sent.

How will it happen? We will create a web page within our site that will capture your necessary data, including payment button through our PayPal account, and would allow us to generate a way to get money to our monthly winners and create a contact database.

You will also be connected into our monthly email newsletter that will include upcoming events, and even telling the stories of people that we help so that you can stay in contact with what we are doing.

Stay tuned for the launch of the Big Four 50-Club web page, and get into the next level of giving for a great cause! #giveback

Big Four Giving Tuesday

11/30/2022

The Big Four Foundation exists to help others in their time of emergent need. We are also led by a board of directors who are completely volunteers. In order to keep our overhead low, we have no office, we have no assets, and we have no salaries. When you give to the Big Four Foundation 90% of what you give goes directly to a person who is being helped through a time of trouble in their life.

We are not always able to drop our day jobs to make a post, or send out an email. With that being said, Giving Tuesday went by without a peep from us. Maybe we can start a new Giving Wednesday trend?

In the past year (2021-2022), due to generous givers like you, we have provided over $17,000 of assistance to families and individuals who could use a little help getting through their situation. We do not do this to be seen, or to look good in the public eye. Rather, we do this to make sure that our friends and neighbors know that they are not alone in their fight and that they matter to our community.

If you are looking for a way to help continue this process, just hit the donate button at the bottom and give us your donation to help us continue our mission of helping people in need in Shelby County. You are the reason we exist, and the means by which we can help our neighbors.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and the heart of all of our board members! We could not do what we do, without you. #giveback

2020 - COVID - Where are we now!

Hello to all the friends of the Big Four Foundation. 2020 has provided us with our share of challenges, as we assume you have also faced. One thing that we have done is to reach out and attempt to help more people than we ever have. We typically will focus our year on one family and guide our giving and support to them. From late 2019 through 2020 we have helped more people than we ever have.

We used the 2019 Hacker Classic to help the David Hurley family as David was battling cancer. In late 2019 we also provided assistance to the family of David Watren during his cancer treatment as well. Unfortunately, David Watren lost his battle with cancer in September of 2020 and our thoughts and prayers still go out to his family.

In 2020 we continued to help the Craig Freishtler family after Craig suddenly and tragically lost his life and left behind his family. We helped to young girls afford the basketball shoes that they needed to compete with. We have helped the Laura Conley family with some unique needs after her unfortunate accident left her unable to care for herself at the time.

Then we wanted to do more. We closed out 2020 by taking on a family through the Salvation Army around Christmas and also helped to assist with many families to get the food they needed over the holidays.

This year we are looking at helping Kaitlin Underwood as she is facing medical costs after finding out that she had a brain tumor!

In all we have donated over $17,000.00 in assistance, either bill paying or gifts, to those in need in Shelby County!

We want to continue to do more! We are already looking to help additional families this year and we are working hard to use your donations and support to continue to provide help to families who find themselves in an emergent need they did not see coming.

Thank you so much to those who have continued to support us! We have been hard at work in 2020 and 2021 and we are looking forward to the upcoming Hacker Classic Golf Outing on August 14th. Be sure to check your email to see if you have your early invite in your inbox!

We appreciate all of you, who make us who we are! We will continue to do all that we can to help people in need!

2020 has given us a whirlwind of challenges and hardships. All of us have faced something in the past six months that have caused us to doubt, worry, and fear. We know that in a time like this it is difficult to think about golfing or even enjoying ourselves, but we are attempting to bring some normalcy and fun back to life.

Well here we go! We have already reached 29 of our 32 teams. We are also looking for sponsorship. You can register a team by going to this link: https://app.eventcaddy.com/…/hacker-c…/register/bundle/19326
You do not need any money and it will not charge you. We simply need your four golfers and t-shirt sizes!
This year has given all of us some hardships. I know that there may not be many businesses that can afford a sponsorship and we understand. If you or anyone you know owns a business and would like to sponsor, please let us know. We are going to be stepping out and attempting to help families in need during this strange 2020 year. We look forward to your continued support and thank you for standing with us this year! #giveback

We thank all of you that have already registered your team, and all those businesses that have reached out to us. We are so grateful that you put your trust in us to help those in need within our community. We will continue to do so as long as we can! Thank you!

2019 Hacker Classic

The 13th Annual Hacker Classic will be coming up soon. August 10, 2019 at the Shelby Oaks Golf Club with an 11:00 am shotgun start.
This year's family that we will be attempting to provide some assistance to will be the family of Dave Hurley. Dave was kind enough to write down some things for us to share.
"In February 2019, my wife Gina and I received a phone call that my sister-in-law needed help. She was going through some difficulties and was not able to be the parent that she wanted to be to her five children. She had been facing some challenges and was asking for our help. She did not want her children to go into the foster care system. I realized at that time we needed to take the kids. It wasn't until April that we had obtained temporary custody of the children and were able to enroll them to Anna Local Schools. Prior to that Gina had been working third shift and driving the kids from Anna to Piqua to go to school.
In February I had been evaluated by my physician because I had a swollen lymph node on the right side of my neck. after having an ultrasound, CT scan, and evaluated by ENT it was discovered that I had a mass on my tongue and there was a spot on my tonsil. I was then scheduled for a biopsy of the mass. In March, I was diagnosed with stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma of right oropharyngeal cancer. I was taking the information in and trying to wrap my head around it. After the biopsy my wife, ex-wife and I set my sons Carter and Keenan and daughter Maura down and told them my diagnosis. I was at a loss for words, looking into their innocent eyes and having to tell them that 'Dad has cancer'.
I was scheduled to have a PET scan and of course I had to wait on insurance approval. Finally, I was able to meet with oncologist and radiation oncologist to determine a treatment plan. The PET scan revealed that the lymph nodes on the right side were positive for cancer. My treatment plan has been radiation five times a week with a total of 35 treatments and chemotherapy one time a week for seven weeks at UVMC Cancer Care Center. I told myself that I was going to have to work as long as I was able to. I had been able to work until about June 1 until the side effects of treatment were starting to hit me that I just couldn't take the twelve hour shifts any longer. Aunt Millies has been willing to work with me and has been very supportive and understanding.
I am at the stage where I do not have much of a voice. My voice is a whisper so when I am trying to get the attention of my two year old son Keenan it can be quite challenging. I am using hand motions or pounding my hand on the table to get his attention.
I am often asked, 'How are you going through this with all these kids?' Having family and community support I have been able to. I am reminded by my daughter Maura, 'Hurley's never give up'. She is right, I am not giving up!" - Dave Hurley

I hope that you will consider joining us for this year's Hacker Classic Golf Outing. It will truly be another special year, coming together as a community to help a family that really needs our support! You are the #giveback spirit of the Big Four Foundation!
Teams can register, sponsors can purchase plans, and you can even simply donate funds by going to our Event Caddy web page for this year's scramble.

The 12th Annual Hacker Classic Golf Outing was once again a huge success. We reached new records in the number of teams competing, sponsors donating, and silent auction items won!
Most of all, we raised several thousand dollars for the family of Carson Shoffner! Carson was able to attend and be there with us as he is still recovering from brain surgery. We were blessed to have him and the whole Shoffner family in attendance for dinner.
We are so grateful for all of our sponsors, as well as all of our golfers who participated in the golf outing this past Saturday. We couldn't do what we do without each of you and your #giveback spirit!
Please stay tuned to our web site and our social media accounts as we will engage our community like never before and will be looking for more families to help during their time of emergent need.
From all of the members of the Big Four Foundation, thank you!

August 11, 2018 is quickly approaching. We hope that you will join us to help the Kevin and Jenni Shoffner family as they support their son Carson in his recovery. Carson has gone through surgery to remove a cavernous angioma from his brain and is currently at home getting used to being a normal 10 year old again.
We still have room for teams as well as sponsors. Sponsors will need to get their information in this week as we will be ordering hole signs and wrapping up our preparations for the day of the event.
We love our sponsors and our golfers. None of this would be possible without you.
